Meet Wayne Churchill: Strengthening the DAVIS Development Team

We are thrilled to introduce the newest face at DAVIS, Wayne Churchill, who joins us as a Software Developer. As our platform continues to evolve and bring innovative automated fleet solutions to our clients, Wayne will be working behind the scenes to keep our technology sharp, robust, and ahead of the curve.

To help you get to know him a little better, we sat down with Wayne to talk about the reality of developer life, life lessons from a fruit warehouse, and how he spends his time when he’s away from his keyboard.

An Introduction

What is your full official job title here at DAVIS?

Wayne: Software Developer.

When a tech problem gets solved, and everything finally works, how do you celebrate in your head?

Wayne: Being a developer, I suffer from imposter syndrome! So, I usually just put it down to sheer good luck and pray the next task is a bit easier.

What was your very first job, and what is the biggest lesson you took from it?

Wayne: My very first job was working in a warehouse packing fruit and veg. It was hard work, and it taught me one very important, practical lesson: never buy your fruit and veg from a market!

Fuel and Fast Code

What is your absolute go-to snack or drink when you need to get into the zone?

Wayne: Definitely a good cup of tea, you can’t beat it when you need to focus.

If you had to open a quirky-themed restaurant, what would it be called, and what would be the signature dish?

Wayne: The restaurant would definitely be called The Stack Overflow Café. The signature dish on the menu would be the ‘Full Stack Burger,’ served with a side of ‘Micro-Chips.’

Beyond the Desk

What’s a hobby or interest you have that usually surprises people?

Wayne: Because I’m a developer, most people instantly assume that I won’t be very sporty. However, I actually play a lot of golf and cricket. Aside from sports, I also play the piano very badly, and I love photography.

If you could instantly become an absolute expert in any skill overnight, what would it be?

Wayne: Predicting the stock market! I’d use my expertise to make my millions and then immediately retire to a lovely house overlooking a golf course.
